Summer Sounds concludes with a celebration of Handel, one of the most cosmopolitan musicians of his day. Born in Germany, studying in Italy, then composing and performing throughout Germany and London, Handel’s name was recognized across Europe. Singers and instrumentalists from around the world will converge on Staunton's beautiful Blackfriars Playhouse for selections from numerous Handel works, including arias, overtures, concertos, and choruses from Agrippina, Dixit Dominus, La Resurrezione, Theodora, Rodelinda, Ode for St.Cecilia’s Day, Coronation Anthems, and more. |
